How we work

Australia’s National Landscapes Program provides a framework where regional partners collaborate to consider new tourism projects, infrastructure needs, conservation impacts and marketing.

We work with regional tour operators, conservation groups, Indigenous communities, councils and state agencies.

Overseeing the program is a Reference Committee representing peak tourism, conservation and Indigenous organisations and federal and state government agencies. Regionally based steering committees bring together local stakeholders to drive local action and implementation.

Parks Australia and Tourism Australia provide day to day management, overseeing destination positioning, experience development strategies, marketing and stakeholder engagement.
